Army Veteran Surprised With a Brand-New Subaru at Doral Subaru

A Halloween handover gave Roy Mora and his family of seven a reliable ride for their next chapter

U.S. Army veteran Roy Kenneth Mora Arroliga got a surprise this weekend: a payment-free 2026 Subaru Ascent Limited 8-Passenger, given in recognition of his service. The SUV will give Roy and his family reliable transportation as they build their next chapter in Homestead.

The presentation and handover ceremony took place on October 31 at Doral Subaru, 9301 NW 12th St., Doral, FL 33172.

A Record of Service

Roy served in the U.S. Army from 2010 to 2014 as a CBRN Specialist with the 2-321 Airborne Field Artillery Regiment at Fort Bragg. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. During his service he earned numerous military honors, including the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, multiple Army Achievement Medals, the NATO Medal and the Parachutist Badge.

“Retired U.S. Army Specialist Roy Mora’s service to our nation deserves our deepest gratitude, and we’re proud to honor his commitment and sacrifice by supporting him and his family,” said Ken Eakes, Executive Director of Military Warriors Support Foundation. “Through our partnership with Chase Auto, we’re able to provide veterans with reliable transportation that helps ease everyday challenges and creates greater stability for their families. At Military Warriors Support Foundation, we believe that supporting our nation’s heroes means standing beside them long after their military service ends, and this vehicle through MWSF’s two-year mentoring program, will assist in a transformational step toward a stronger and more hopeful future for Roy and his family.”

More Than a Set of Keys

Since its start in 2007, Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Transportation4Heroes program has awarded nearly 250 vehicles to military veterans across the U.S. Along with the Subaru, Roy and his family will receive family and financial mentoring through the foundation, designed to support their long-term financial well-being.

Supporting veterans and military families has long been a priority for JPMorganChase. Since 2011, the firm has hired nearly 20,000 veterans and more than 3,000 members of the military community. In Florida, that commitment includes hiring more than 2,100 veterans since 2014 and gifting more than 250 homes to nonprofit organizations that provide mortgage-free homes to veterans.

“We’re honored to recognize Roy’s service and sacrifice, and support him and his family in this way,” said Michael Douglas, Head of Dealer Services for Chase Auto. “Reliable transportation can provide more than a way to get from one place to another. For a family, it can bring greater stability and confidence in the moments that matter most. We’re proud to help put a new set of keys in Roy’s hands and support him and his family.”

Local dealership group Lithia & Driveway also joined the effort.

“At Lithia & Driveway, we believe our responsibility extends far beyond selling vehicles. It’s about making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve,” said Erick Nunez, Platform General Manager for Lithia & Driveway’s South Florida Platform. “Roy has dedicated years of his life to serving our country, and it is a privilege to give back to him and his family in a way that will make a lasting impact. We are proud to stand alongside Chase Auto and Military Warriors Support Foundation to honor his service and provide something that represents more than transportation—it represents opportunity, independence, and a new chapter for his family.”
