Saiko-i Brings Theatrical Dining Experience to Plantation

A sizzling new Japanese restaurant has arrived in Broward County. Saiko-i Sushi Lounge & Hibachi officially opened its doors at the Shoppes at Broward in Plantation, bringing high-energy hibachi performances and inventive sushi creations to the community.

The 8160 W. Broward Blvd. location marks the brand’s largest restaurant to date and its third in South Florida, joining existing outposts in Parkland and the original flagship in Boca Raton.

A Recipe for Celebration

Behind Saiko-i are Tina Wang and Chef Jason Zheng, the duo who previously brought Coco Sushi Lounge and Yakitori Sushi House to life. Their vision for the Plantation location centers on creating a space where every meal feels like an event worth celebrating.

“This community has been incredibly welcoming, and we wanted to build something that truly reflects that,” Wang said. “From the heat of the hibachi grills to exclusive new dishes and a layout made for celebration, Saiko-i Plantation delivers a bold, energetic experience designed to bring people together.”

The restaurant’s design supports that mission. Natural wood finishes blend with bold red accents and striking statement lighting, creating an atmosphere that works equally well for casual weekday lunches and lively weekend gatherings. Multiple hibachi tables give chefs room to showcase flaming grills and knife tricks, while a full sushi bar anchors the interior. A covered patio provides an open-air alternative for those seeking a more relaxed vibe.

Exclusive Dishes and Familiar Favorites

Saiko-i Plantation introduces several dishes created exclusively for this location. The Sunrise Roll features King salmon and avocado topped with spicy toro and wasabi sesame. The Fantastic Roll pairs spicy kani, seaweed salad and avocado with seared Kobe beef and spicy mayo. Perhaps most ambitious is the Foie Gras Tower, layering salmon and cream cheese with spicy tuna, seared foie gras, scallion and eel sauce.

Beyond the sushi bar, the kitchen offers Grilled Spanish Octopus with asparagus and chimichurri sauce, Beef Tenderloin with port wine tobanyaki sauce, and Braised Short Ribs in curry sauce with seasonal vegetables.

Traditional hibachi entrées deliver the expected tableside theater. Options range from Chicken & Shrimp Combo to Lobster & Filet Mignon pairing, all accompanied by clear mushroom soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, hibachi vegetables and steamed rice.

Dining Throughout the Week

Saiko-i has structured its offerings to appeal to different occasions. Weekday lunch specials run Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with hibachi combos starting at $15.95 and bento boxes that include sushi, sashimi, pork gyoza and edamame.

Weekend brunch brings bottomless mimosas and bloody marys for $18, served alongside hibachi combos and poke bowls. Daily happy hour runs from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a second bar-only session starting at 9 p.m., featuring $4 beers and $8 wines and cocktails.

Weekly specials provide additional incentives to return. Mondays bring 50% off select kids’ sushi rolls. The Tuesday Roll Deal offers any two signature rolls for $32. Wine Down Wednesdays discount all wine and sake bottles by 30 percent. Thursdays feature Ladies’ Night with happy hour prices at the bar from 5 p.m. to close.

The restaurant also accommodates various dietary needs, with hibachi chefs able to make ingredient swaps for the entire party. Cucumber-wrapped sushi rolls and gluten-free soy sauce provide lighter alternatives.
