Norwegian Aura: NCL’s Largest Ship Coming to Miami in 2027

Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled its biggest ship yet—the Norwegian Aura—which will call Miami home starting June 2027 after debuting in Europe that May.

Ship Stats

At nearly 1,130 feet long and 169,000 gross tons, Norwegian Aura will accommodate 3,840 guests, making it 10% larger than previous ships Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. The vessel is currently being built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri with interiors by world-class designers including Piero Lissoni and Rockwell Group.

Ocean Heights: The Main Attraction

Spanning four decks (18-21), this open-air activity complex transforms from day to night with immersive lighting. Highlights include:

  • Eclipse Racers – NCL’s first dueling waterslides stretching over 400 feet
  • Aura Free Fall – A 250-foot drop slide where the floor opens beneath you
  • The Wave – A lotus-style raft slide for up to four guests
  • The Drop – The signature dry slide rushing guests down 10 decks
  • 82-foot Aura Ropes Course with ocean views
  • 25-foot Rock Climbing Wall
  • Aura Midway – Carnival-style games area
  • Nine-hole mini golf course
  • NCL’s first overhanging private cabanas

Family-Focused Features

Ocean Boulevard, the outdoor promenade wrapping the ship, has been expanded by 11% with new hot tubs, additional seating, and dedicated spaces for kids and teens including Adventure Alley (ages 6-10) and Teen Hangout.

The pool deck is 20% larger than previous ships—the biggest in NCL’s fleet—with more seating, an extra infinity hot tub, and a larger LED screen. The Kids’ Aqua Park features splash pads, the Party Slide, and the figure-eight Infinity Loop.

The Haven: Luxury at Sea

The exclusive Haven complex offers 159 suites (30% more than previous Prima Class ships) with keycard-only access, private elevators, a panoramic infinity pool, outdoor sauna, and dedicated restaurant and bar. Guests enjoy 24-hour butler service, priority embarkation, and exclusive event invitations.

Itineraries from Miami

Summer 2027 (June-October): Seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises visiting Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Great Stirrup Cay (NCL’s enhanced private island featuring the new Great Life Lagoon and upcoming Great Tides Waterpark with 19 waterslides).

Winter 2027/28: Seven-day Western Caribbean voyages to Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Harvest Caye in Belize.

All Caribbean voyages include a stop at either Great Stirrup Cay or Harvest Caye.

Standout Design

The hull features original artwork by international artist Rosie Woods, inspired by celestial light and bioluminescent seas—continuing NCL’s tradition of eye-catching hull art.
