Tacology Arrives at Brickell City Centre

February 16, 2017

Tacology is a new arrival at Brickell City Centre. Precisely calculated food stations around the restaurant, make this location colorful and practical. The stations are divided up by types of food such as tacos, drinks, cold entrees, etc., However, it doesn’t mean you get up to visit the different stations, the server goes to the stations for you. The stations are more for visual affect. The restaurant brings a variety of seating options, you can lounge on the outside patio facing the mall, sit at the high stools at the bar, take a regular table or take a half booth style area by the enormous video wall in the back.

Ceviches, tostadas, salads and specialty plates are some sections to choose from on the menu. Try the Mexican Nachos from the Specialty section. The dish is equipped with corn tortillas, melted Mexican cheese blend, black beans, roasted corn, avocados, shrimp and chipotle cream.

The owners behind Cantina La Veinte in Brickell, sure put in some work to make this place a hit. During its soft opening, all the tables were filled up and the place was bustling. You can book a table straight from their website here.

OTL opens at the Miami Design District

February 4, 2017

The newest neighbor to move to the Miami Design District is OTL aka “Out To Lunch.” The neighborhood, known for its fashion, design, architecture and dining spaces is a perfect match for OTL’s minimalist and contemporary space. The mid-century look paired with industrial metal accents comes from the Deft Union design team. It’s the same people behind Sweet Liberty’s design on Miami Beach.

The owners: Craig Robbins and Dave Grutman. Craig Robbins, an entrepreneur and real estate developer, has worked on revitalizing areas of Miami and Miami Beach. While club promoter turned business owner, Dave Grutman is known for Miami’s iconic spots such as LIV and Story nightclubs and restaurant Komodo in Brickell.

The OTL breakfast and lunch spot, brings a laid-back feel with straightforward menu items that include sandwiches, salads and coffee options. What next? OTL plans to use their second story for extracurricular activities and if we’ve seen anything from Dave… we know there is always something up his sleeve.

Miami always offers exciting things to do. One event we find extremely unique is the week-long Miami Oyster Week! The original creators of New York Oyster Week bring you six carefully created Oyster events throughout Miami. After five years of successful events in New York, “we thought it’s time for the next step,” says Janine Rietz Bernard, Marketing Director for the Oyster Hood.

AirPods in Music On

January 16, 2017

AirPods, the courageous move from Apple. Apple has had success for years, with it dissipating as innovation slows down. But there’s something different with these headphones. Yes, they’re pricey at $159 but they’re worth the cost. The head phone market has had a long success with Beats, and runners up Bose. But these AirPods come with a familiar look and feel.

The style is the same minus a wire. With improved Bluetooth capability and Apples new W1 chip these headphones are a definite GO! No, they don’t slip out of your ear, no they’re not hard to pair. To set up, you simply open the case and press the button on the back, voila you have Bluetooth head phones. The case may look like dental floss, but its’ purpose is for storage and charging. Speaking of battery life, the AirPods hold a 5-hour charge and the case 24 hours. If you’re an Android user, you’re in luck. The AirPods can be paired with any android phone capable of Bluetooth connectivity. The only complaint, why didn’t you create these years ago, Apple?

Little Havana’s Doce Provisions

January 14, 2017

Tourists flock to this small eatery in Little Havana, whether it was mentioned in a magazine or a foodie blog…we’re not sure. All we know is that the diversity of visitors is vast and DSLR cameras in and out are plenty.

It could be the shishito peppers, or maybe the homemade guac served with purple onions, crisp tostones with sprinkled cayenne pepper and parmesan cheese. Whatever it is, people are eating up the menu.

And should you visit, we say to definitely go for the Rock Shrimp Mac and Cheese and Doce Provision’s version of chicken and waffles (Buttermilk Fried Chicken). The Rock Shrimp Mac and Cheese is made to complete perfection with spicy notes for the spicy feens. Seconds? Their menu gives you smaller and larger portion options…choose wisely.

Thirsty? That mac and cheese’s spice goes well with their craft beer hefeweizen selection. So pair it with a brewski!

Why Doce Provisions? The location gets its inspiration from Miami’s crowd, the international culture infused into the city. That’s why you’ll see burgers such as the ‘short rib burger’ with sliced queso frito inside. Why? Well, we see the burger being american cuisine and the queso frito being Nicaraguan… but that’s just our opinion. We think its awesome! American-Fritanga. That’s what they do, they mix up different cultural foods to bring you something special.

When you’re ready to step out of your comfort zone and try something daring…visit this sweet spot with indoor and outdoor seating.
